The Gourmet Hog Roast Company was asked to cater for a private 50th birthday party in Birmingham. The client expressed that they wanted high-quality and special food but in a relaxed and informal atmosphere and our hog roast catering fitted the bill perfectly. What a fun party this turned out to be.
The hog roast menu
We met with the client and drew up a bespoke hog roast menu for 80 guests featuring one of our traditional and mouth-watering hog roasts, alongside our famous crackling, roast potatoes, and fresh selection of rolls and apple sauce. We also served salads, including our creamy potato salad with chives; cold vegetarian pasta salad with cherry tomatoes, sun-dried tomatoes, and basil; and our classic Mediterranean salad.
The event was held in the private garden, where on the day itself, we arrived with a three-metre by three-metre gazebo for cooking and cooked our locally-sourced meat for hours until it was falling off the bone, so it was ready at the perfect time. Our pigs are all orchard-fed, so they feast on apples, which gives the meat a distinctly sweet and fresh flavour.
There were a number of vegetarians and vegans in the crowd, who were not neglected and also catered for, using a separate cooking space. They were served a selection of vegan burgers with vegan cheese, cooked over the fire for the same smoky and delicious taste. We always try to be as sustainable as possible, so used biodegradable plates and cutlery to serve the food, which was easy and eco-friendly.
We worked hard to ensure everything went perfectly, and judging by the happy smiles, our show-stopping hog roast was a big hit. The day went brilliantly and all the guests remarked on how much they loved the food. When everyone was completely full to the brim, we took care of clearing up and packed everything away.
